MODEL WORKSHOP
I
have been looking for different way of teaching geometry in primary education classes
and i have discovered a very interesting way of doing that. As you can see in
the following video students have created a scale model using geometric shapes.
From
my point of view it is a very useful project to work in class due to all the
benefits it has, for example it works with their creativity and it could be
used working by group. If we continue thinking how to improve the contents of this activity, for example we can do it using recyclable materia, among other things. Even more, I reckon that it could be adapted in each
level, increasing or decreasing their difficulty and the contents.
For
example, if we are in the first years of primary education we can use this type
of project to let them know de different geometrical shapes. However, if they
are student of the higher levels of primary education we can let them to apply
measures, to observe perspectives and to make the activity more complex.
For
those reason I think it is a very interesting way of introduce student to the
geometrical world around us, letting them to be aware about the importance and
the functional purpose of the subject.
